The benchmark DAX index at Frankfurt Stock Exchange on Monday dropped by 68.20 points or 0.57 percent, closed at 11996.07 points.

Energy group RWE lost the most among the blue chips, whose share went down by 2.50 percent, followed by software corporation SAP and industry giant Thyssenkrupp by losing 1.54 percent and 1.48 percent respectively.

Beiersdorf, Muenchener Re and Deutsche Telekom were the top three winners, whose shares gained by 0.41 percent, 0.25 percent and 0.25 percent respectively.

German automotive manufacturer Daimler was the most traded share with a turnover of 264.67 million euros (288.20 million U.S. dollars).
